In most of the towns and villages a map with an overview of all the Volksbank Arena Harz routes in the area can be found at a centrally located starting point.
You can set off on one of the signposted and classified MTB routes of the Volksbank Arena Harz from over 31 locations in the Harz between Bad Grund and Neustadt, Goslar and Bad Sachsa. Here you will find plenty of service for cyclists, mountain-bike-friendly accommodation, exciting MTB race events, bike parks and MTB guides who will take you on a tour. Have fun in the Harz!!
Mountain bikers welcome! In 18 Harz towns and villages your hosts will know what mountain bikers need. They all display the sign "Mountainbiker willkommen". For example, you will get lots of vitamins and carbohydrates for breakfast, lunch packs and perhaps an extra water bottle so that the tour can go on a little longer.
In many towns and villages in the Harz you can rent mountain bikes eBikes or eMountainbikes (pedelecs), in some places also fat bikes or downhill bikes, as well as the necessary equipment. The opening times vary according to the size of the rental station. In summer you can reserve bikes online from the larger rental stations (e.g. in Clausthal-Zellerfeld or Braunlage). For groups of more than five people you should always phone the rental station in advance to make sure that the bikes you would like to have are available in the necessary size on your chosen date.
New from 2020: When your battery runs out of energy – or you do, head with your eBike to one of the popular restaurants or cafés on your tour. You find them between Goslar and Herzberg, Wolfshagen and Trautenstein. If you see the sign "Hier laden Sie auf", they have an electricity socket for your battery charger, so both of you can refuel, you with a little stay and perhaps some cold drinks - and your bike with an Energy recharge!
Cautious and considerate
Safety for mountain bikers is of paramount importance here in the Harz. You can help by having the right clothing and well-maintained equipment. Always keep your bike under control - there could be an unexpected hazard around the next corner!
